Black Dog marks my first large-scale painting after years dedicated primarily to drawing. While remaining rooted in the symbolic language developed through Saudade, the work expands that vocabulary through scale, material and gesture.

Layers of acrylic, ink, charcoal, oil pastels and collage construct a symbolic expression of grief.
